Tanuki NPC

The Tanuki NPC is the vendor that ran the Zen Shop during the Zen Event (added July 19, 2025), and it should not be confused with the Tanuki pet. Its single, focused role is currency conversion: it exchanges Tranquil plants for Chi, the event-specific currency that powered Zen Event purchases.

Mechanically it is a sink-and-source node in the event economy. Players hand over crops carrying the Tranquil mutation and the Tanuki channels them into Chi, with a convenient Take all my Tranquil plants dialogue option that batches your entire qualifying inventory in one interaction instead of submitting one plant at a time. This makes it the throughput bottleneck of the whole Zen loop, so the more Tranquil crops you produce, the faster your Chi accumulates.

To use it well, the real work happens upstream: build your farm to maximize Tranquil-mutated harvests before each shop visit, then dump everything in a single batched submission to save time. Because Chi only buys from the Zen Shop and the Tanuki is the only conversion point, prioritizing Tranquil output during the event window is the entire optimization. As a limited-event NPC, its value was tied strictly to that active Zen Event period.
