Where to get Spike
Spike hatches from the Luminous Egg, part of the Luminous Egg group. According to the wiki, limited eggs like this do not spawn in the regular biome nests: they come from the Store or from special events such as Admin Abuse.

Spike guide
Spike is the entry-level pet of the Luminous Egg: a Legendary worth $15K/s that, with luck, turns into something far more valuable before it ever hatches.
Where the Luminous Egg came from
Update 4 retired the Monster Egg and put the Luminous Egg in its place. Like the Monster Egg, it has a rare chance to re-roll a hatch into a Luminous variant of the same animal. Spike's variant is Luminous Spike, a Secret at $350M/s, which is more than 23,000 times the plain version. The wiki doesn't publish the odds of that re-roll.
The Luminous Egg holds six pets, and Spike is the lowest:
- Spike, Legendary, $15K/s
- Spirit Manta, Mythic, $75K/s
- Abyss Shark, Cosmic, $2.5M/s
- Electric Eel, Secret, $200M/s
- Terra Snapper, Eternal, $750M/s
- Cthulhu, Divine, $3B/s
Since it isn't a biome egg, Speed requirements and guardians don't apply. The wiki also lists no grow time or hatch reward for Spike.
Spike's place on the income table
Spike ranks tied for 9th of 21 Legendary pets, and 153 of the 198 pets in the game earn more. Its base weight is 250 kg. With the formula the wiki documents, its ceiling looks like this:
- Golden: about $37.5K/s
- Rainbow: about $52.5K/s
- 100x base weight (25,000 kg): about $257K/s
- 200x base weight: about $355K/s
- Rainbow at 100x weight: about $898K/s
That top estimate still falls below a plain Abyss Shark. Getting a plain Spike from a Luminous Egg is the egg's floor; what matters is the small chance at its Luminous form.
