Every egg in Steal an Egg falls into one of two groups. Biome eggs sit in nests guarded by a sleeping monster and come back every 5 minutes. Special eggs never show up in those nests: you buy them, trade pets or eggs for them, or earn them in events.
This guide puts the special eggs side by side using the pet data on the wiki: what each egg holds, the pet with the highest base income, and how you get it. All income numbers are base $/s, before mutations and size bonuses.

Biome eggs vs special eggs
5-minute nest reset
Each biome has its own set of eggs, and the nests reset every 5 minutes. You grab an egg, outrun the guardian and carry it to your pen. Bigger eggs pay more, but they are heavier and slow you down. The full list by biome is on our all eggs page.
Limited eggs: Store and events
The wiki's eggs and guardians page says limited eggs, such as the Brainrot Egg, don't spawn in normal nests. They come from the Store or from special events like Admin Abuse. Other special eggs come from game systems: the Rift Sacrifice, Dr. Scramble's Laboratory, boss rewards and event shops.
Every special egg compared
This table doesn't rank by opinion. It shows each egg and the pet inside it with the highest base income. Getting that pet is never guaranteed.
| Egg | Pets inside | Highest-income pet | How you get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Extinction Egg | 6 extinct animals | Sabertooth, $5B/s (Skeletal Sabertooth $9B/s on a reroll) | Paid egg added in Update 6 |
| Luminous Egg | 6 + 6 Luminous forms | Luminous Cthulhu, $6.5B/s (Cthulhu $3B/s) | Took the Monster Egg's place in Update 4 |
| Monster Egg | 6 | Dreadscale, $2B/s | Robux Store (Update 2), later replaced |
| Mecha Egg | 6 Mecha forms | Mecha Dreadscale, $4B/s | Rare Mecha reroll of Monster Egg pets |
| Unstable Egg | 5 | Octophant, $4B/s | Dr. Scramble's Laboratory |
| Experimental Egg | 5 | Dreadstinger, $2B/s | Dr. Scramble's Laboratory |
| Biohazard Egg | 5 | Nuclear Mantis, $1.5B/s | Dr. Scramble's Laboratory |
| Shattered Rift Egg | 5 | Shattered Colossus, $3.5B/s | Rift Sacrifice |
| Riftbeasts Egg | 5 | Void Serpent, $900M/s | Rift Sacrifice |
| Riftborn Egg | 6 | World Eater, $500M/s | Rift Sacrifice |
| Dragon Egg | 3 | Ember Dragon, $600M/s | Event egg (method not documented) |
| Brainrot Egg | 6 | Strawberry Elephant, $110M/s | Store or special events |
Sorted by the best pet each egg can give, the top four look like this:
- 1Extinction Egg through its Skeletal reroll: Skeletal Sabertooth at $9B/s, the highest base income of all 198 pets in our data.
- 2Luminous Egg through its Luminous reroll: Luminous Cthulhu at $6.5B/s.
- 3Mecha Egg and Unstable Egg, tied: Mecha Dreadscale and Octophant at $4B/s each.
- 4Shattered Rift Egg: Shattered Colossus at $3.5B/s.
Luminous Egg and the 1% Luminous reroll
The Luminous Egg arrived in Update 4 and took the Monster Egg's place. The patch notes describe it as working like the Monster Egg did: a rare chance to reroll a hatch into a special variant, in this case a Luminous one.
The wiki gives the exact rule. A Luminous Egg holds 6 base pets and 6 matching Luminous forms. Each time you hatch one, there is a 1% chance that the pet you get turns into its Luminous form. There is no separate slot for Luminous Cthulhu: you need to roll a Cthulhu and hit the 1% on the same hatch.

Base pets vs Luminous forms
| Base pet | Rarity | Base $/s | Luminous form | Rarity | Base $/s |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spike | Legendary | $15K | Luminous Spike | Secret | $350M |
| Spirit Manta | Mythic | $75K | Luminous Spirit Manta | Secret | $500M |
| Abyss Shark | Cosmic | $2.5M | Luminous Abyss Shark | Secret | $600M |
| Electric Eel | Secret | $200M | Luminous Electric Eel | Eternal | $1.75B |
| Terra Snapper | Eternal | $750M | Luminous Terra Snapper | Eternal | $2.5B |
| Cthulhu | Divine | $3B | Luminous Cthulhu | Divine | $6.5B |
The jump is biggest at the bottom of the list. Spike goes from $15K/s to $350M/s, more than 20,000 times as much, while Cthulhu roughly doubles. Any Luminous hit is a big upgrade, not only the Cthulhu one.
Extinction Egg and Skeletal rerolls
Update 6 added the Extinction Egg as a new paid egg with 6 extinct animals. Like the Luminous Egg, it has a small chance to reroll your hatch, and that reroll gives a rare Skeletal version of the animal. The notes say "small chance" without a number, and the wiki doesn't list one either.

| Animal | Normal $/s | Skeletal version | Skeletal $/s |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glyptodon | $22.5K | Skeletal Glyptodon | $550M |
| Terrorbird | $110K | Skeletal Terrorbird | $750M |
| Giant Sloth | $4M | Skeletal Giant Sloth | $900M |
| Dunkleosteus | $300M | Skeletal Dunkleosteus | $2.5B |
| Gigantus | $1B | Skeletal Gigantus | $4B |
| Sabertooth | $5B | Skeletal Sabertooth | $9B |
Skeletal Sabertooth sits at the very top of the income list. Even the weakest Skeletal form, Skeletal Glyptodon at $550M/s, out-earns every biome Secret pet in our data (the best ones, Centaur and RazorFang, make $350M/s).

Monster Egg and Mecha Egg
The Monster Egg came out in Update 2 in the Robux Store with 6 monsters to hatch, and the notes say every monster has a rare Mecha variant. The wiki's Monster Egg page describes it as limited, and Update 4 replaced it with the Luminous Egg. The "Mecha Egg" on the wiki is simply the list of those Mecha forms, which is why people search for the "mecha reroll".
| Monster | Base $/s | Mecha form | Base $/s |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scorpio | $10K | Mecha Scorpio | $45M |
| Froggo | $50K | Mecha Froggo | $155M |
| Crawler | $1.5M | Mecha Crawler | $320M |
| Crocodon | $30M | Mecha Crocodon | $680M |
| Krakenoid | $500M | Mecha Krakenoid | $1B |
| Dreadscale | $2B | Mecha Dreadscale | $4B |

The Mecha reroll chance is not documented. In numbers, a regular Dreadscale already out-earns every Mecha form except Mecha Dreadscale, which doubles it.

Brainrot Egg
The Brainrot Egg is a limited egg. According to the wiki, it only comes from the Store or special events like Admin Abuse, and it never spawns in a biome nest. The wiki doesn't list an Admin Abuse schedule, so we don't give one either.
Its six pets share their own "Brainrot" rarity, and the gap between the first and the last is enormous:
- Tung Tung Sahur: $100/s, grows in 15s
- Bananita Dolphinita: $400/s, 35s
- Belula Beluga: $40K/s, 2m
- Mangolini Parrochini: $800K/s, 10m
- Bomboclat Crocolat: $20M/s, 1h 30m
- Strawberry Elephant: $110M/s, 4h

Next to the other special eggs, the Brainrot Egg tops out low. Its best pet earns less than the weakest Skeletal form. Its value is the fun names and the fast early hatches, not the late-game income.
Laboratory eggs: Biohazard, Experimental, Unstable
Update 6 replaced the old Rift Trade-In Machine with Dr. Scramble's Laboratory. You now trade in eggs directly instead of hatching them and handing over the pets. A permanent banner rotates between three pools, and each pool asks for eggs from certain biomes.

| Lab egg | Asks for eggs from | Pets (base $/s) |
|---|---|---|
| Biohazard | Prehistoric, Cosmic, Cherry Blossom | Toxic Rat $180K, Radcoon $2.2M, Toucax $30M, Nuceodile $500M, Nuclear Mantis $1.5B |
| Experimental | Cosmic, Cherry Blossom, Titan Temple | Wheel Hamster $450K, Stacked Turtle $12M, Three Headed Chicken $165M, Eyeball Crab $825M, Dreadstinger $2B |
| Unstable (Unstable DNA banner) | Cosmic, Cherry Blossom, Titan Temple, Angels & Demons | Frogfly $1.25M, Spiderpig $25M, Sharkodile $350M, Rhinobear $1B, Octophant $4B |
The requested eggs start at Prehistoric (18M Speed) and go up to Angels & Demons (20B Speed), so the Lab is a mid- to late-game system. Inside each banner, the wiki splits the requested eggs by rarity, from Rare and Epic up to Cosmic and Secret.
Pity
Update 6 buffed pity: hitting pity now guarantees the top reward instead of a random top-3 reward. The wiki doesn't say how many trades it takes to reach it. The FAQ on the Rift event page adds that pity carries over when you leave the game or the banner rotates.

Rift Eggs: the Rift Sacrifice
A Rift sits permanently in the lobby. It asks for 3 random pets; hand them over and you get 1 exclusive Rift Egg. The pets it asks for depend on the active banner and are split into Easy, Medium and Hard tiers. Banners rotate roughly every 3 hours, and the Update 3 notes say the rotation is synced across every server.
| Banner | Asks for pets from | Pets (base $/s) |
|---|---|---|
| Riftborn | Jungle, Snow, Volcano, Abyss Ocean | Rift Eye $11K, Voidmaw $50K, Ventinal $585K, Abyss Overlord $1.25M, Wendigo $15M, World Eater $500M |
| Riftbeasts | Volcano, Abyss Ocean, Prehistoric, Cosmic | Void Angler $30K, Riftwing $220K, Dreadclaw $2.2M, Mawbreaker $60M, Void Serpent $900M |
| Shattered Rift | Prehistoric, Cosmic, Cherry Blossom, Titan Temple | Shardling $450K, Shattered Ram $8M, Shardwing $145M, Shattered Drake $800M, Shattered Colossus $3.5B |
Riftborn is the banner you can feed earliest. Its Easy list is Chimpanzee, Penguin, Lava Gecko, Lava Frog, Parrotfish and Swordfish, all pets from Jungle, Snow, Volcano and Abyss Ocean.

Boss Tokens and Boss Mastery
Don't mix up the lobby Rift with the timed one. Every 30 minutes a Rift opens somewhere on the map. Beat the Overlord inside to earn Boss Tokens for the Boss Shop: cash multipliers, Speed multipliers, treadmill boosters and a Mutation Shard with a 10% chance to apply a mutation to an egg in your pen. Each win also adds Boss Mastery Points, which unlock rewards such as eggs that already carry the Fractured mutation (2.75×). More on our Rift event page.

Dragon Egg and other event eggs
Three dragons share the Dragon Egg: Baby Aurora Dragon ($5M/s), Shadow Dragon ($25M/s) and Ember Dragon ($600M/s), all with the "Event" rarity. The wiki lists them as event pets but doesn't explain yet how the Dragon Egg is obtained.

Dr. Scramble's events hand out more eggs, with clearer rules:
- Experiment Shop (paid with Samples from his drones): Experiment #001 Egg for 6,500 Samples (limit 1) and Nibbles #013 Egg for 2,950 Samples (limit 3).
- Boss Mastery (1 point per Dr. Scramble defeat): Eye Bat #021 at 10 points, Citadel Snail #007 at 25, Uncoiled Armadillo at 50, Mecha Chompa at 75 and Pink Dragon Experiment #010 at 100.
- Secret boss drop: Mecha Scrambler, a Divine at $7.5B/s, has a 0.5% chance to drop each time Dr. Scramble is defeated.
The Nitro Race from Update 8 also unlocks 5 new pets through its Win Pass, but the wiki hasn't documented them yet.
