In The Strongest Battlegrounds (TSB), nine characters are free: The Strongest Hero from your first join and eight more from the character menu. Monster Form unlocks through a star icon, Undying Hero needs the 299 Robux Early Access pass, and Sorcerer needs the 499 Robux Private Server+ pass. KJ and the removed bosses can't be bought. Kills unlock none of them.
The table below lists all 16 entries the wiki treats as characters, with the access type and the exact path. The sections after it cover the entries where the wiki is vague or contradicts itself, which is most of the paid and exclusive ones.

Two notes on the table. The KJ trivia says "either a large quantity of robux a private server is required", while its Cons list says it is available only in private servers, to developers, or to the Top Donator, so the wiki gives more than one route. The Strongest Pirate page also says some players have uploaded its movesets in the Catalogue.
Every figure here is data we read from the community wiki on 24 octubre 2026 and organised ourselves. The wiki's actualizaciones page stops at 17 mayo 2026, so anything the game changed after that date is not reflected. For the full roster with moves, see the TSB characters page.
The free characters, and when each one stopped costing Robux
The Characters page says every finished character is available for free and needs no special access. You open the roster from the icon in the top-left corner of the screen, or with the down arrow on the directional pad on console.
Nine characters have been through Early Access, according to the Early Access Gamepass page: Hero Hunter, Destructive Cyborg, Deadly Ninja, Brutal Demon, Blade Master, Wild Psychic, Martial Artist, Tech Prodigy and Undying Hero. Hero Hunter (Garou) was the first character on that pass, which the actualizaciones page dates to 27 enero 2023.
The dates the wiki gives for each switch to free:
- Destructive Cyborg: the actualizaciones page entry for 30 abril 2023 is headed "CYBORG RELEASED FOR FREE". The 27 abril 2023 entry says it would become free "in a few days".
- Deadly Ninja: the actualizaciones page says "Deadly Ninja is now free" on 2 julio 2023.
- Brutal Demon: "free to play" on 22 octubre 2023.
- Blade Master: the entry headed "BLADE MASTER FREE TO PLAY" is dated 27 enero 2024. The same entry also mentions an unnamed new Early Access character, so treat that date as the wiki's heading date and nothing more.
- Martial Artist: it became free in the KJ update on 21 diciembre 2024. The Martial Artist page adds that it spent six months in Early Access, the longest of any character.
- Tech Prodigy: released to Early Access on 21 diciembre 2024 and marked "NOW FREE" in the 17 mayo 2026 entry.
- Hero Hunter and Wild Psychic: the wiki says they are free but gives no date.
How to unlock Monster Form (Monster Garou) and Cosmic Form
Monster Form is not a separate pick in the list. The Characters page says to click the star next to the Hero Hunter icon and then select the dropdown icon. It also says that "despite various rumors circulating in the community", there are no proficiency requirements for using it. So, according to that page, no mastery or proficiency check gates it.
One wrinkle: the same Characters page calls every listed character free "with the exception, of course, of the Hero Hunter's Monster Form", while the Monster Form infobox says Free. The page does not explain what the exception means, and it names no price or pass.
Cosmic Form is a second awakening inside Monster Form. The Monster Form page describes the trigger: land Hunter's Mark, then land God Slayer on the marked target. The page names that version of God Slayer "Apex Execution" (43%), and its notes say it unlocks Cosmic Form. The next time you awaken, you transform.
Know the cost before you chase it. Cosmic Form lasts 29 seconds, its activation is listed at 15%, and the page says that when the timer ends the energy kills you. Its radiation hurts nearby players by 2 per second but never lowers them below 4 health. The full move list is on the Hero Hunter (Monster Form) page.
Undying Hero: the Early Access character
Undying Hero is the only character right now that needs the Early Access gamepass. The Early Access Gamepass page prices it at 299 Robux, and the Gamepasses page agrees, adding that price depends on your region (its example is 119 Robux in the Philippines). The actualizaciones page, in its 27 enero 2023 entry, says 300 Robux.
Once you buy the pass you keep access to current and future Early Access characters without paying again, and you can gift it to another player. The wiki warns that Early Access characters can be unbalanced and buggy. Undying Hero is a fair example: its awakening table still holds placeholder rows (Sky High, Stay Put and Devastation have no real description), and the Characters page says it is in Early Access "as of the Cosmic Update". The actualizaciones page lists it as a brand new character in the 17 mayo 2026 entry.
Sorcerer: Private Server+ and a private server
Sorcerer (the Satoru Gojo character) needs the Private Server+ gamepass, which costs 499 Robux. The PS+ page says the price was 399 Robux until mayo 2024. It plays only in private servers, and the Sorcerer page adds that only the owner of the private server can use it. Other players in someone else's private server can't.
The wiki disagrees with itself here. The Sorcerer page's Obtainment paragraph and infobox say that the Tech Prodigy update later let Sorcerer's moves be granted to everyone, including private servers without the pass. The same page's Cons list, the Characters page and the PS+ page all still say the pass is required. We can't tell you which is current, so treat the pass as required until you see otherwise.
A historical note from the Sorcerer page: when it first appeared the PS+ pass did not exist, and the Early Access pass in your own private server was enough. The Awakening page and the Sorcerer page both say Sorcerer has no awakening.
KJ: five versions of who can use it
KJ cannot be bought. What the wiki can't agree on is who gets it:
- The Characters page character list says it can only be used by the number ones on the Donations board.
- The Characters page Exclusive table says Top Donator on both leaderboards, Developers and self-owned private servers.
- The Characters page Limited Time table says you can use KJ only on your private server.
- The KJ infobox lists private servers, being a developer, and being Top Donator (Monthly or All Time).
- The KJ page body says it is no longer accessible in public servers unless you are a top donator or developer, but is freely accessible in private servers without the Private Server+ pass.
Four of the five versions mention your own private server, and only the KJ page body spells out that the PS+ pass isn't needed. The Exclusive section's intro also says all its characters are exclusive to the PlayStation version, which doesn't fit the rest of the page where PS+ means Private Server+.
KJ was also free for everyone in dedicated KJ servers from 21 diciembre 2024 until 24 mayo 2025. The KJ page's trivia says players had been promised temporary access if the game won an award in the Roblox Innovation Awards 2024, and that the promise was fulfilled on that date. The Gamemodes page still lists KJ Servers, though the KJ page says they were removed.
Removed and unplayable: The Frozen Soul, Crab Boss, The Strongest Pirate
The Frozen Soul. The Frozen Soul and Characters pages say it was removed from public servers on 24 mayo 2025, but the actualizaciones page entry for that day doesn't mention a removal, and its own trivia says it stays usable after the Christmas event. Before the removal, an item called the Fracture of Tundra fell near spawn areas every 30 minutes, and picking it up turned you into The Frozen Soul. With PS+ you can still spawn it in a private server with the "Spawn Meteor" command. The release date also differs: 21 diciembre 2024 on the actualizaciones page, 22 diciembre 2024 on the Characters page.
Crab Boss. This was a beach boss. The top three damage dealers after it died got the moveset as a one-time-use character. It is gone from public servers (the infobox says after the KJ update, the trivia says 21 diciembre 2024), and PS+ owners can bring it back with "Spawn Crab". One trivia line says that after a 30 mayo 2026 actualización you can play it from the Catalogue; the actualizaciones page has no entry for that date, so we can't confirm it.
The Strongest Pirate. It's developer only. The Characters page says it leaked through the moveset option in Build Mode, was pulled from public access, and that only three named people can use it today. The wiki's own date for it is inconsistent: "about a year ago (mayo 2025)" in one place, "an unknown actualización" in another. A separate "Lazarbeam" entry on the Characters page describes an easter egg in the awakening-outfit menu, not a playable character, and says its icon has been removed.
Kills don't unlock characters
The Cosmetics page says all cosmetics require kills to obtain, and its gallery labels the Custom Cape "VIP Gamepass" and the Guild Cape "Group only". Those are accessories and auras, and the requirement is a kill count. None of the 16 character entries lists a kill requirement. The accessories page covers the kill thresholds for cosmetics, and the actualización log tracks the dated changes above.
The Emotes page adds how kills are counted: 1 per player kill, 2 for a kill made with a finisher, and none at all in private servers (friendly duels do count). Códigos don't unlock characters either, because the wiki documents no código system; see the TSB codes page.

How do I unlock Monster Garou in TSB?
Click the star next to the Hero Hunter icon in the character menu, then select the dropdown icon. The Characters page says there are no proficiency requirements, whatever the community rumors claim.
How do I get Cosmic Garou (Cosmic Form)?
