Mossy Mammoth — In-Depth Analysis
The Mossy Mammoth is a neutral entity in 99 Nights in the Forest, found only in the Jungle Biome once the campfire is level 4 or higher. It has 800 HP, deals 30 damage and moves at a walkspeed of 20. The wiki notes it has the highest health of all entities, apart from unkillable ones such as the Deer, the Owl, the Ram and the Kiwi.
It wanders aimlessly and does not attack when you simply walk near it. Only damage from a player makes it chase, and when it catches up its attack has the unique property of causing knockback; like the regular Mammoth, it and the Ram are the only entities that push players away. If a player's pet wolves try to help, they deal no damage because its hitbox is too far for them to reach. A killed Mossy Mammoth may respawn after a day.
A kill drops 8-9 Steak, 2 Ribs and 0-1 Mammoth Tusk. Using an infernal sword, infernal crossbow, flamethrower or wildfire potion makes the meat drop cooked instead of raw. Despite the high stats, the wiki says it can be beaten by walking in circles with a melee weapon, and its size makes it easy to hide from or trap.
Taming requires a Strong Taming Flute or better. It asks for 2 Pumpkins and a Cake, repeated 5 times, for 10 Pumpkins and 5 Cakes in total.
