Combat Tips
- It is not recommended to fight the Cursed Captain alone unless the player is Lv. 1300 or above, so as to have a higher chance at defeating him.
- If the player has difficulty defeating the Cursed Captain by themself, they can team up with other players, ideally higher level ones.
- The player can first hit the Cursed Captain to lure him behind a wall, then get to the other side of said wall and begin hitting him. Using moves that have high knockback can be helpful to prevent the Cursed Captain from using his moves.
- Blox Fruits with good range and high damage are recommended, such as Venom, awakened Magma , Dragon, Spirit, Tiger, awakened Light, Sound, etc. *
- Fruits with great stuns, such as awakened Dough or Control can also be recommended if the player is not fighting the Cursed Captain alone.
- Standing on the chandelier above the Cursed Captain will get the player out of range of his attacks.
- Buddha users may stand a chance even at Lv. 1000 due to their increased hitbox and damage reduction.
- It is recommended to keep a distance from the Cursed Captain, as getting hit by his attacks is quite easy.
- Certain Blox Fruits, such as Lightning, are not recommended due to some or all moves being restricted by the roof of Cursed Captain's room.
- The player should be careful when using moves that may make the Cursed Captain go outside the room, such as unawakened Dough's [X], [V] moves and Tiger's [X] move.
- The damage from the attack Crescent Dash can be ignored by Shadow's [Z] move and other i-frame moves if used at the right time.
- Sharkman Karate is the best choice for Fighting Style, as it has the perfect moves for situations like these. Its [Z] move is a knockback/escaping move (escape only applies when low health). Its [X] move is a knockback move/damaging move, and its [C] move is a combo starter/damaging/knockback move. ==Notes==
- The Cursed Captain will not drop Ectoplasm nor Hellfire Torch if the player is under Lv. 1000. *

Cursed Captain Strategy & Best Use
Cursed Captain is the ghostly pirate boss haunting Haunted Castle in the Second Sea, accessible at level 1,000+. He has roughly 300,000 HP and fights with a cursed sword moveset that inflicts a debuff reducing your stat bonuses by 15% for 10 seconds on hit — making the fight hurt progressively more if you let him land too many shots. Drops: Cursed Captain's Hat cosmetic (~8%), Ghost Fragment quest item (~20%), and above-average Beli. Respawn timer is 20 minutes.
The debuff stacking is the only real danger here. Never let Cursed Captain land two hits in a row — use Flash Step or any fruit's mobility move to maintain gap. Shadow fruit is thematically apt and mechanically excellent: Umbrage lets you fight at mid-range while Corvus Torment applies continuous damage. If you don't have Shadow, any fruit with a reliable stun works — stun him, burst, back off, repeat. Sword mains using Canvander or Saber can exploit his slow recovery animations for extended combos.
The Ghost Fragment at 20% drop rate makes Cursed Captain a vital farming target for players in the Haunted Castle questline — you'll need multiple fragments to progress. Beyond quest necessity, the cosmetic Cursed Captain's Hat has genuine collector appeal and sees decent trade demand. With a 20-minute respawn, you can loop this boss 3 times per hour while grinding the surrounding Haunted Castle mobs for concurrent Bounty/Honor gains.
