North-Star Rod

North-Star Rod is out of reach today. The wiki says it came from the Advent Calendar after 9 days, and it is not obtainable now, so this entry is about what it was. It was tied to Moosewood, the starting town, which also sells the Flimsy Rod, Fast Rod, Crew Rod, Lucky Rod and Long Rod.

It was a very low-powered rod, in line with a free calendar reward. Luck was 30, Lure Speed 5, Control 0.04 and Resilience 12, with a weight cap of 875 kg. It had no passive. The quote describes it as powered by the intensely bright shine of the Northern Star, which is more atmosphere than ability.

Those stats show why nobody should regret missing it. Lure Speed of 5 means bites arrive very slowly, and 30 Luck is far below what starter rods in Moosewood offer. The value was in being a seasonal item, a small keepsake from a holiday event rather than something that made fishing better.

For players today, the useful takeaway is to ignore it when planning a rod upgrade path. If you are looking at Moosewood, the rods that are actually sold there are the ones to compare. The North-Star Rod belongs in the collection of event items, not in the fishing plan.
