The guardian sleeps next to the nest; the faster you are, the easier it is to outrun it. Bigger eggs are worth more but slow you down. Eggs & guardians

Centapede guide
Centapede is the entry egg of Cosmic, and its numbers tell you exactly what it is for. It earns only $1.5K/s, but a 2-minute egg pays +960k Speed, more Speed than any Prehistoric egg, including the six-hour Mosasaurus (+600k).
Cosmic's quick Speed egg
- Zone: Cosmic, 9th in the biome order
- Speed to enter: 700M
- Guardian: Cosmic Skeleton
- Grow time: 2 minutes
- Hatch reward: +960k Speed and $150k
- Base weight: 6 kg
That works out to roughly 480k Speed per minute of growth, the best rate in the zone. The next biome, Cherry Blossom, sits at 2.5B Speed, so egg rewards alone will not close the gap, but a spare pen slot running Centapede eggs adds Speed steadily while the slower Cosmic eggs grow.
Income: low, and expected
On cash it is the weakest pet in Cosmic (1st of 8 counting from the lowest), far below the Cosmic Gecko at $30K/s. It is 2nd of 11 Epic pets and 167th of 198 overall. Mutations do not change that picture much; with the wiki's documented formula (marked beta), the estimates are:
- Golden: about $3.75K/s
- Rainbow: about $5.25K/s
- 100× base weight: about $25.7K/s
- Rainbow with 100× weight: about $89.8K/s
In demand elsewhere
Centapede shows up in several side systems:
- Easy-tier requirement for the Riftbeasts and Shattered Rift sacrifices
- The Epic pet of the Cosmic egg on all three Laboratory banners (Biohazard, Experimental and Unstable DNA)
With a 2-minute timer, keeping spares for those trades costs very little.
