Corrupted Alpha Wolf — In-Depth Analysis
The Corrupted Alpha Wolf is the stronger hostile wolf of Hard Mode in 99 Nights in the Forest. It has 125 HP, deals 25 damage and has a walkspeed of 26, compared with 75, 20 and 23 for the Corrupted Wolf. It spawns in The Forest once Hard Mode is activated and in the Rift, and wolves can show up anywhere at night.
It wanders until a player gets within its detection radius or damages it, then chases the player until one dies or the player escapes. After attacking it may back off a short distance. When a pet attacks it, it targets the pet until a player attacks it again.
Its drops are 2-3 Rotten Morsels, 1 Rotten Steak and a 0-1 Alpha Wolf Pelt. According to the wiki, corrupted alpha wolves appear in groups, so melee weapons are very effective as long as you kite well to avoid damage. Ranged weapons can be used too, but depending only on them takes a significant amount of time.
Taming needs a Good Taming Flute or above. Once the minigame is done, the wolf asks for a Steak, a Mackerel and a Salmon, and the process is repeated four times, for four of each food. The Hunting badge, which rewards 4 diamonds at 2 stars of difficulty, is listed on this page and is earned by completing all of the Pelt Trader's quests. The page itself still uses placeholder images for most of its entries.
