Gunslinger โ€” In-Depth Analysis

The Gunslinger is a class in 99 Nights in the Forest that costs 600 diamonds and starts with 60 Revolver Ammo plus a Trusty Revolver. The Trusty Revolver begins identical to a normal Revolver, but it levels up as you kill certain creatures. Level 2 of the class gives a chance of ammo as a bonus drop from chests after 250 kills with the revolver, and level 3 makes the revolver start with a random upgrade after 500 kills.

On spawning you receive a book that opens the Target List, which tracks kills per animal. Filling a bar upgrades one stat: Cultists raise damage (from 16 up to 25), Bunnies raise bullet speed, Wolves raise magazine size (from 6 up to 12), Alpha Wolves speed up reloading, Bears improve fire rate and Mammoths add an explosive bullet chance of up to 16%. Only the killing shot has to come from the revolver, so the wiki advises weakening targets with other weapons first and saving ammo for finishing blows. A Rifle shot, for example, leaves a Cultist at a health where one revolver bullet finishes it.

Good places to level damage are the Caverns, which hold many Cultists. The wiki rates the class as strong in the end game once the list is maxed, but weak early, expensive, short on ammo and poor for solo play, since it is combat-focused. Bunnies are not worth hunting for their upgrade.
